Simple & Effective Personal Security Training

By Kodie Eason

There is no better way to protect yourself than by educating yourself in self-defense. It doesn't have to involve learning advanced techniques or require months out of your life either. But a little personal security training will go a long way in helping to ensure your own safety.

The chances of being robbed, mugged or kidnapped are slim, of course, but the risks are still out there and it is worth being prepared. Many people can sense what sorts of places and situations to avoid yet may still find themselves in just such a predicament unavoidably. You want to be prepared for potentially threatening situations.

Potential attackers choose their targets carefully. This does not necessarily mean that you have been targeted for days but rather implies that a potential attacker will assess and determine if you will be their next victim or not quickly. Something as simple as the manner in which you walk to your car can determine whether or not you will be chosen for the assault.

Taking a course on personal security training is a fantastic idea! These classes will teach you to make smart decisions should you find yourself in a less than desirable situation. In addition to learning tactics that can help you avoid confrontation, you will also learn how to get out of it once you are involved and you will learn the important role that confidence plays in keeping you safe.

As a general rule, the people who instruct these classes have a background in law enforcement or may have had some personal experience with assault in the past. Either way, they are usually quite passionate about sharing their knowledge and teaching people how to protect themselves. Classes may meet once or twice a week for a few weeks and you will have the opportunity to put your newfound knowledge to the test with hands-on practice and enough review that you can call on your training should you ever need it.

A little personal security training can help you lead a safer, more confident life. By educating yourself, you can take some of the fear out of your everyday activities and be secure in the knowledge that you know how to protect yourself. This alone will make you a much more difficult target for an attacker.

Don't let yourself be a victim! Invest in a personal alarm or some pepper spray and, most importantly, enroll in a personal security training course because you never know when a threatening situation may arise. - 30300
